Robert GEorge

As a scholar, Robert has completed extensive research in the Library of Congress on saxophone quartet and solo literature. His research on the Hollywood Sax Quartet has inspired doctoral dissertations on the history of the ensemble. He is the recipient of two Emerging Artists Awards from the Caldwell Arts Council and has studied with James Houlik of Duquesne University.

Jenny Lanier

Prior to her appointment at McDowell High School, she spent seven years at West McDowell Junior High School. During her tenure there the number of students enrolled in the band program doubled. West McDowell's concert and jazz bands consistently earned Excellent and Superior ratings at state performance adjudications as well as festivals throughout the eastern United States. The West McDowell Band has been represented by band members at Western NC All-District Band Clinics, Western Region Jazz Band as well as North Carolina All-State Band and North Carolina All-State Jazz Band.

During the 2011-2012 school year she was selected as West McDowell Junior High Teacher of the Year. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Western North Carolina Bandmasters Association and is involved in the North Carolina Music Educators Association Mentor Program. She is the co-founder of "Music Across the Miles", an international program in which she travels to Haiti to work with village bands.

She is a member of the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA), Women Band Directors International (WBDI) and Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.

Patrick Young

Patrick has performed with the Asheville Jazz Orchestra, The Asheville Gentlemen, UNC-Asheville Community Jazz Band, Marion Foothills Community Band, Land of the Sky Symphonic Band, the Lloyd Hinson Orchestra, The Temptations, Mary Wilson, Ed Shaughnessy, & Chris Vadala. He has studied saxophone with Lloyd Weinberg and Dr. Craig Whittaker.

Patrick is married to his lovely wife, Jill, who is the music teacher at Old Fort Elementary and has a son-Daniel.

Patrick is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Pi Kappa Lambda. He was the 2002 Teacher of the Year at McDowell High School.

Michael Myers

Michael has studied with Lloyd Weinberg, David Kirby, James Houlik, and Virginia Tillotson. He has also been awarded a Regional Artist Project Grant from the Transylvania County Arts Council and has been commissioned as a commercial composer by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and The Red Cross, and can be heard working as a voiceover actor, sound designer, and multi-intrumentalist performing on commercial recordings on everything from keyboards to pennywhistles, guitar to vocals, and various woodwinds to bass. Michael maintains a woodwind studio and teaches woodwinds and music recording and music technology at Montreat College.

He has performed with Chris Vadala, Lenny Pickett, Ernie Watts, Barbara McNair, Ed Shaughnessy, Loonis McGlohan, Steve Hansgen (Minor Threat), Stephen Pollock, James Houlik, Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead), Lloyd Hinson Orchestra, Nouveau Passé Orchestra, Western Piedmont Symphony, Blue Ridge Orchestra, Asheville Symphony, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Buddy K Big Band, The Temptations, Velvet Truckstop, The Asheville Jazz Orchestra.

A professional web designer and developer specializing in user interfaces (UI) and user experience (UX) for NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), he is also the webmaster for lenoirsax.org.
