The great saxophone quartets of the past have always inspired us to create different sounds, think about the music differently, and to simply play better. Who can deny the talent that has enthralled our ears over the many years? We have included a list of who we consider to be the great saxophone quartets of the past. This is by no means a complete listing of all the past quartets. But, these are the ones we feel have made the most lasting impressions on the saxophone world.
Hollywood Saxophone Quartet
THE American saxophone quartet of the 1940s and 1950s who brought classical and jazz together for the "Chamber Jazz" sound for which they are so well known and loved.
Marcel Mule Saxophone Quartet
When you think about fine, French saxophone quartet music no other quartet's name jumps to mind as quickly as Marcel Mule's Le Quator de la Musique de la Garde Republicaine. Or, more simply stated, the Marcel Mule Saxophone Quartet or Le Quator.
Six Brown Brothers
Okay, not really a quartet, but they probably did as much as anyone else ever has in fanning the flames of saxophone fire.
